THE PISA INTERNATIONAL ASSESSMENT SYSTEM AND THE ANALYSIS OF PROBLEMS IN UZBEKISTAN’S EDUCATION SYSTEM

Abstract
This article analyzes the essence and significance of the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) international assessment system and its role in evaluating the education system of Uzbekistan. The study identifies existing problems in Uzbekistan’s education system based on PISA assessment domains—functional literacy in reading, mathematics, and science. In particular, issues such as the detachment of educational content from real-life practice, insufficient development of critical and logical thinking skills, and teaching methods that do not fully meet modern requirements are examined. Furthermore, conclusions and recommendations for improving the education system of Uzbekistan are proposed based on the results of PISA studies. The findings of the article have scientific and practical significance for the development of education policy and the implementation of reforms aimed at improving the quality of education.
